Dear Congregants:
Our community’s health and well-being continues to be our highest priority. Our leadership met to discuss and make some decisions about Congregation Beth Ohr operations during this time of uncertainty, as the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold. The decisions we made are rooted in concern for the health and safety of our community, the recommendations of the CDC and the NJ Department of Health, our obligations to prevent the spread of the virus to the larger community, and of course our Jewish values.
We will be providing updates by email and our website, as we receive new information and directives.
Starting today, March 13th we are canceling all programs, classes, events, meetings, Friday Night and Saturday Morning Shabbat Services, and Sunday services UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. We will reassess the situation to determine our next steps.
Caring Community and Pastoral Care – If you are anyone you know are alone or in need of any assistance, please reach out to us. We are concerned for all of our community members, and especially our most vulnerable members at this time. We are here for you and are ready to deploy our caring network to make sure everyone is safe, has food, and has the resources they need.
As always, we will continue to provide pastoral care for life cycle events such as illness, birth, and death. Please contact Rabbi Mishkin at rabbijoelmishkin@gmail.com.
The Torah teaches, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life, so that you may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19) By taking the above actions, we are protecting our community’s health and, in the Torah’s words, we are choosing life. As a synagogue, we are here to support and comfort each other as we navigate this situation together.
Please feel free to contact Phyllis Greenberg by email at congregationbethohr@gmail.com. In case of an emergency, please contact Rabbi Mishkin at 941-518-8864.
We will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and will update you with any additions or changes, both via email and our website, www.oldbridgebethohr.org.
